The official name of this course is How To Build a Physical Computing Platform on a Solderless Breadboard, but I generally shorten it to Breadboard Arduino to save typing and decrease blank stares.
Learn to build an Arduino-compatible microcontroller from scratch on a solderless breadboard - with your bare hands! No tools or previous expreience required!
This two hour, hands-on class takes you from a pile of parts to a working Arduino-clone that you can program from your PC. The first hour walks you through the step-by-step instructions for building the circuit on a solderless breadboard. The second hour explores the Arduino IDE (integrated development environment).
All materials as well as refreshements are provided. Just bring a resonably recent laptop that can run the free Arduino IDE software (see arduino.cc for more details) and has a spare USB port. You'll walk away with a complete computer that you built with your own hands and a good understanding of how to program and expand it.
I wrote a detailed, 28 page manual (download 2.7MB PDF) with lots of photos to help guide you through the class. Please download it and make yourself familiar with some of the basic concepts ahead of time, if you can. There's no need to print it out as you will receive a full-color copy of you very own at the class.
Here is the class schedule for the remainder of the 2009 calendar year:
Each class starts at 7:00PM sharp. Please arrive early to get set up.
The remaining classes for 2009 will be held at The Generator Coffee Shop in downtown Garland TX, a suburb of Dallas.

Anyone can attend and participate in the class for free; just bring your own Arduino or pile of parts. If you would like the complete course material kit with all components along with a printed manual, the cost is $45. All major credit cards, PayPal and our old friend green folding money are welcome.
